چکیده

Developing an evidence base for making public health deci sions will require using data from evaluation studies with randomized and nonrandom ized designs. Assessing indi vidual studies and using stud ies in quantitative research syntheses require transparent reporting of the study, with suf ficient detail and clarity to read ily see differences and similar ities among studies in the same area. The Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) statement provides guidelines for transparent re porting of randomized clinical trials. We present the initial ver sion of the Transparent Report ing of Evaluations with Nonrandomized Designs (TREND) statement. These guidelines emphasize the reporting of the ories used and descriptions of intervention and comparison conditions, research design, and methods of adjusting for possible biases in evaluation studies that use nonrandom ized designs. Adherence to the CONSORT Statement in the Reporting of Randomized Controlled Trials on Pharmacological Interventions Published in Iranian Medical Journals

Background: Among manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) form the backbone of evidence-based medicine. Hence, their protocol should be designed rigorously and their results should be reported clearly. To improve the quality of RCT reporting, researchers developed the CONSORT Statement in 1996 and updated it in 2010. This study was designed to assess th...

Improving the reporting of public health intervention research: advancing TREND and CONSORT.

BACKGROUND Evidence-based public health decision-making depends on high quality and transparent accounts of what interventions are effective, for whom, how and at what cost. Improving the quality of reporting of randomized and non-randomized study designs through the CONSORT and TREND statements has had a marked impact on the quality of study designs. However, public health users of systematic ...

Evaluating the impact and use of Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Non-randomised Designs (TREND) reporting guidelines

INTRODUCTION Accurate and full reporting of evaluation of interventions in health research is needed for evidence synthesis and informed decision-making. Evidence suggests that biases and incomplete reporting affect the assessment of study validity and the ability to include this data in secondary research. The Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Non-randomised Designs (TREND) reporting g...
